Close to the edge.

WALT: Summarise text.
Close to the edge is a very mysterious level 4 graphic novel written by Cicle Kruger.  There is a girl and she is among a group that appears to be of a dozen or so. They are on the edge of a cliff on the side of a mountain. The group is up ahead, yet the young girl and her mother are a few meters behind . The mother is dreaming; dreaming of a place where she could be happy and safe, some might say otherwise but the author didn’t mention what she was really thinking of. It is dusk, and with every breath the group inhales sand. They are headed north. East, south and west are no longer there. They walk in the direction of what appears to be a city, the city has a cloud of laurel green some rising from within it, in this part the author made us really think because he doesn’t describe or speak of the destination, where about they are, and what has happened. Once again in my opinion they are refugees headed to a safer place, but who knows. The mother gently mutters her name, “Opal”. The girl listens carefully, “Don’t stand too close to the edge”. Opal moves closer to the middle. The path narrows and soon the group of dozen goes single file. Opal rubs her rough worn hand on the smooth edge
of the mountain side. She hears a noise and realises that someone has stood too close to the edge and chipped the edge of the path causing rocks to fall. Everyone but her is distracted because as they fall she feels a gap in the mountain side. She tries to fit in it, it is barely enough space for a hungry girl who hasten eaten days. She enters the cave with little to no light. She is unable to find her way back out. The smell of smoke is still there, but her breaths are clearer. She feels something wet and smooth rap around her ankles. She immediately releases what it is. Now over here the author makes us think even more, what could the wet object be? This is a short story very well written. I really enjoyed reading it and highly recommend it.
